We had three toys from Kindergarten’s in Christchurch who took a long time to make it home. The week they were with us was also when the Feb 22nd Earthquake devastated Christchurch. When we mailed Dogger, Bella and Spencer home we were unsure if they would make it. Spencer from Sunbeam Kindergarten came back a week later. We were able to track down the Head Teacher through Facebook and send Spencer back to the lovely children at Sunbeam Kindergarten. Dogger and Bella from Cashmere Kindergarten weren’t quite so speedy – they came back to us five weeks later. We were able to make contact with the lovely folk at Cashmere Kindergarten, who like Sunbeam, had signficant damage and were operating out of different premises. So in early April we were able to get them finally home – along with some kind thoughts from our children. This is the note we received back.
Hi Suzie, and children of Koputaroa School,
Dogger and Bella arrived by courier at my home this morning. I waited until we were at kindergarten this afternoon to open their box…….WOW…..we were so excited and thrilled to see them both. We could not believe the absolutely fantastic profile book filled with lovely photos and letters from you all. (I must say I had some tears.)
We cannot thank you enough and we will all be writing to thank you all so very much when we get back to Cashmere Kindergarten enclosing some photos. I am going up today to take some photos of the building which is being repaired….hopefully we are going to be back at
Cashmere beginning of next term or very close to the beginning.
What a lot of work you put into The Big Bears Holiday……the passports and photo work UNBELIEVABLE. Thankyou again. Lots of love Cashmere Kindergarten.
Our best wishes to the children of these Kindergartens.
